Integrated English in Arts

Three years ago, I was being asked to handle indiscipline pupils that came from poor family background. It was difficult but I managed to do it. Yes! I did it. Yesterday, I refreshed my memory on pictures taken  in the computer. These were what I found in one of the folder. The pictures taken was after UPSR exam in 2009. I remember one day I asked them to produce art work based on nursery rhymes. Since I was assigned to become a head panel of Visual Arts and handle the Art room it made me easier to handle them by enhancing motivation them to love arts. In fact I gave them ideas on how they can produce a beneficial product which can help them in improving themselves in English Language. After did some cutting, colouring and pasting, they printed the rhymes on a board and displayed them in the art room.It was amazing feelings for a teacher like me to see the products. Well, there is a sad story behind this. These students are no longer in primary school. In fact, it was their final year in primary school. A year later, the role of a head panel for Visual Arts was be given to my friend.I did not teach arts that year. This year is different. I become a head panel of Visual Arts once again. As I opened the Art room last week, my heart was beating hard. Where are the pupils' masterpiece? I searched everywhere, in a store room, boxes, drawers and yet finally I discovered that all of the products were thrown away. How sad. Just live with me pictures (Lucky I got some!). I want to cry.... well below are the examples of children's work.

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water
Jack went down and broke his crown
and Jill cam thumbling after

Jack be nimble,
Jack be quick
Jack jumped right over the candle stick

There is one more 'Humpty Dumpty'. The masterpiece is gone but stay in my heart for a long time...
